Not to miss - Day 2

Anne Clifford places to see: Nappa Hall.

NAPPA HALL

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nappa_Hall

Anne frequently travelled through the Yorkshire Dales and Nappa Hall was a secure, fortified manor house ideally situated for a safe overnight stay.  Her diaries make clear that she stayed at the hall as guest of the Metcalfe family, using their hospitality to break up the tiring journey across the fells from Skipton to her houses in Westmorland.

Today, the privately owned15th-century fortified manor house stands as a striking reminder of the overnight stops that made Lady Anne's long journeys possible.

This route was first surveyed in the summer of 2024. There may have been some changes to roads and their surface since then, so always check as you ride and dismount where necessary. Details of opening hours and so on are correct at time of writing but, again, always check. If you want to suggest any improvements to the site or have spotted any errors, we would like to hear from you.
