The Route

A glorious ride through North Yorkshire and Cumbria, taking in some of the most important historical buildings, towns and villages associated with Lady Anne Clifford, a wealthy northern landowner.

This route is based on four days' cycling. You could, of course, take less or more time, but there are some long stretches with little or no overnight accommodation. However you do it, make sure you allow time to visit some of the key Anne Clifford buildings and sites, making them part of your journey of exploration and discovery. And do take something to read as you sit with your feet up in the evenings and find out more about this remarkable woman. Our Resources page has some great suggestions.

Not to miss

This route was first surveyed in the summer of 2024. There may have been some changes to roads and their surface since then, so always check as you ride and dismount where necessary. Details of opening hours and so on are correct at time of writing but, again, always check. If you want to suggest any improvements to the site or have spotted any errors, we would like to hear from you.
